How to Find Free Lesson Plans
From your Elementary Educators Guide

Who would say 'no' to free lesson plans? There are thousands of great lessons all over the web. Here's how to easily locate them.

Difficulty Level: Easy    Time Required: 15 45 minutes

Here's How:
  1. Start with a collection of links to free lesson plan web sites, such as the one on this site.
  2. If you're looking for a particular subject, choose web sites that focus on that particular area.
  3. If you're just browsing for any type of lesson plan, start with any site that appeals to you.
  4. If the site offers a search function, use it to narrow down your quest for lesson plans.
  5. Otherwise, simply browse through an index of listings.
  6. When you find a lesson plan that interests you, read it thoroughly, checking for quality and applicability to your classroom and teaching style.
  7. Copy and paste, or print, the lesson plan.
  8. Continue to search for lesson plans, as desired, repeating the steps above.
  9. Modify the lesson plans as you wish, for your grade level, student ability, practicality, and availability of resources.

Tips:

  1. Don't feel pressured to use lesson plans exactly how others wrote them; use them for inspiration and ideas that work for you and your students.
  2. Some sites will accept your submissions of lesson plans; this is a nice way to 'give back' if you use a site's collection often.
